Hobgoblins Stud Open Day 2006

The sun shone on April 9th, and there was a good turnout to view the stallions and the facilities at Hobgoblins Stud. The afternoon began with an introduction to the Stud’s history and the work of the equine reproduction centre. The audience was next treated to a display of the international dual purpose coloured stallion Stanhopes Diddicoy (whose owner, Lady Petersham had flown in for the occasion); international dressage stallion Millenium (put through his Grand Prix movements by owner-rider Laura Richardson); Eventing stallion Jetset; Dressage stallion Vedonau and finally a fascinating display by Susannah Anderson’s recently imported reining stallion Little Foxy Knoxie.  Following the stallion parade, the newly-completed stallion barn was officially opened, and Madeleine Campbell MRCVS, resident Vet and Chairman of the BEVA AI Committee, gave a brief seminar on the latest reproduction technologies including semen freezing, AI, embryo transfer and embryo freezing. A question and answer session was accompanied by cakes and tea provided by the Ashdown Garden Centre Café, and the audience had a chance to visit the stallions in their stables and to chat with their owners.
