Millenium

Grand Prix Dressage Stallion; one of the most successful competition horses ever to stand at Stud in the UK

Year of Birth: 1989
Height: 16.3 hh
Sire: Manstein (Hannoverian)
Dam: Grandella (Oldenburg) by Gradios/Grande
Pedigree:

Millenium’s Sire, Manstein (Matrose) was a Hannoverian State Premium Stallion. Manstein died aged 7, so had a limited number of progeny, yet his descendants  include Sterntaler-Unicef, who recently won the Frankfurt Grand Prix ridden by Ann Katrin Linsenhoff, and the European Show Jumping Champion Montendor. Millenium’s dam Grandella was directly descended from Grandios and Grande, both of whom were State Premium Stallions in Germany. Although Millenium has himself always competed at dressage, his pedigree is a strong showjumping line, and his book in 2006 also included a number of high class eventing mares.

Performance

Millenium’s performance record is arguably the best for any dressage stallion standing at stud in the UK.

Stallion Grading

Millenium scored all 9s for rideability; presence; scope; quality and movement at his Stallion Grading

Progeny

Millenium’s first foal crop was born in 2007, and his quality as a sire has already been proven by the results of his offspring in the nationwide BEF Futurity competition. In 2008, one of Millenium’s foals, Hobgoblins Honour Bound, was awarded highest scoring eventing foal at Plumpton. Hobgoblins Honour Bound successfully defended his title in 2009 to be awarded highest scoring eventing yearling, and was again awarded Elite status in 2010 with his new owner. In 2009, a Millenium-sired yearling, Timeline, was the only yearling to be awarded Elite status Nationwide. In 2010, Millenium’s progeny continue to succeed in the BEF Futurity series, with Gina Foulkes Halbard’s yearling “Middlelenium” taking the highest score of the day in the eventing section. The first Millenium foal born in 2010 was “Solomon” owned by Nicola Jooste. Taken to his first show at just two months old, Solomon not only won his class but also took the show champion honours. In 2011, Solomon was the highest-scoring eventing yearling at the BEF Futurity Southview, and qualified for the national finals where he placed 3rd overall, with the highest mark for the day of any aged horse for his walk. At the SHB(GB) North West Summer Show Solomon won the yearling sports hose class, was Champion of his section, and overall Reserve Supreme Champion.

Tribute Tertius, a Millenium son from the first crop of foals, placed third on 68% in his first dressage test in 2011.

It is clear that Millenium is stamping his foals with an amazing combination of correct conformation, athleticism and outstanding temperament which we thought was unique to Millenium but which we are discovering seems to be heritable! Feedback from owners and riders such as Penny Sangster, who has backed Amanda Angear’s Millenium gelding (“Seriously smart!”), and Vicky Collins, who has backed Hobgoblins Mimic (“Athletic and trainable”) is always positive.
