Breeding Profile
SIRE: OLYMPIC FERRO (Ulft/Farn)
Olympic Ferro won his performance test and went on to confirm his
reputation as the top Dutch Warm-Blood dressage sire of his generation with an
outstandingly successful competition record at every level up to Olympic. His
current Best Linear Unbiased predictor indices of 183 for dressage and 134 for
showjumping confirm this and his progeny includes:
- Metall, sire of the Best British Foal
2001, sold at Brightwell’s Summer Auction for £21,000
- Negro international dressage horse for
Anne Van Olst
- Lagos champion stallion at the Sports
Horse Breeding of Great Britain Stallion Grading 2000
Olympic Ferro’s dam is a daughter of the prepotent sire Farn, often
viewed as the foundation sire of the modern Dutch Warmblood. As the sire of 13
graded sons, including Nimmerdor and Wolfgang his influence on the
stallion lines of the stud book was immense and he was also a broodmare sire of
note, appearing in the bottom line of well over 50 KWPN-graded stallions to
date.
Grand sire: ULFT (Le Mexico/Pericles XX)
Ulft was the top-ranked sire of dressage horses in the listings prepared
by the World Breeding Federation for Sport Horses based on international
winnings of progeny. He has a current BLUP for dressage of 137.
In addition to Olympic Ferro he has produced a further 12 graded sons worldwide
and many international dressage horses, including:
- Argentile Gullit Olympic dressage
stallion for Britain
- Blue Hors Utopia international dressage
horse for Denmark
- Fair Play popular sire in the USA
Ulft’s sire Le Mexico sired 10
graded sons including the popular sires Silvano and Zelhem and has
23 offspring in international showjumping including Comex, Olympic
Briljant and Notorius all of which earns him a showjumping BLUP of
154.
Through his dam’s sire Pericles XX Ulft is also closely related to
Samber the well-known coloured Grand Prix dressage horse who has many
successful offspring throughout the world.
DAM: NATALY (Irco Polo/ Helmar K)
Nataly is a Keur (proven successful) broodmare. Her sire Irco Polo
is one of the many top stallions by Marco Polo out of a Sinaeda mare. He
is therefore ¾ brother to such well-known names as:
- The international showjumping stallions
Marius and Interpol
- The performance test winner Haarlem
- The influential coloured stallion Ico
who jumped internationally and although only at stud for three years from 1970
to 1973 founded his own coloured stallion line through Illasso (the only
coloured horse to win an all-breed 100-day
performance test in Germany) and Nekoma (international showjumper
for Italy).
Progeny
His first foals were born this year, possessing his amazingly bold and friendly nature and well balanced conformation with loose and very athletic movement.
